Radio Ad Evaluation

Analysis of stages of production   and equipment/facilities used & Analysis of selection and use of  sound bed and music

The first stage was to determine the focus and target audience of my product, I wanted to make people hear the radio ad and know exactly what the selling point was, while feeling like it was made specifically for them. I accomplished this by using a humorous standpoint with two elderly people being able to listen to a hip hop track instead of classical music as they had bought SongBox due to it's low price.

The second stage was brainstorming and I always knew the sort of concept would have to have a humorous approach and so it was set in stone. I'd have these two elderly characters who sit by a fireplace listening to their vinyl classical music as it would be a great idea to put a spin on with comedic effect in order to capture the attention of the real target audience which would be teens to young adults.

The final, and best part was putting all the elements together into a script and by this time I knew exactly what I wanted. I had got many sound effects together to really make my advert pop and I used the spacial awareness in garage band by altering the sounds and which ear it would be louder In giving the listener a sense that they were in the room and that the elderly people were one either side of them.

Analysis of advertising techniques used

I went for a humorous approach by using the elderly people to try to make a connection with my real target audience. Young teenagers to adults all know that elderly people probably wouldn't have an interest in a product like SongBox and so, by addressing the concept of it they would find it amusing and hopefully intrigued. Furthermore I repeat the name of my product just before a big sound effect. This will make the name stay with listeners instead of going straight over their heads.

Suggested improvements or alternative advert ideas

To improve my ad I feel like I could have included a Widder variety of music to try and show that the app has a lot of musical variety other than just the type that I have shown in my current advert.
